It will be an interesting duel for Asian supremacy when the two teams, India and Sri Lanka clash in the Asia Cup 2010 final at Dambulla this afternoon.
Sri Lanka did a very smart thing in the last match by winning the toss and electing to bowl first. Dambulla has been known to be advantageous to teams batting first. Sri Lanka, having already qualified for the final, showed that they were capable of doing the tougher task should the toss not get lucky for them.
India too beat Pakistan batting second in a humdinger of a match.
There ain’t much to choose between the two teams, but Sri Lanka hold the slight edge plus they have the advantage of the familiar conditions of home.
In all likelihood, it should be a close affair, with the match possibly going either way depending on which set of players raise the standards proportionate to a final match. So don’t miss watching the match live.

When India and Pakistan take on each other today in the Asia Cup, it will be a meeting of two equally balanced (or imbalanced teams). Both teams have shown indifferent or poor ODI form in the recent past.
Shoaib Akhtar’s return to the Pakistan squad means that they have an extra edge in their bowling now. From what we saw of Akhtar in the opening match against Sri Lanka, the Rawalpindi Express looked good, and can only improve with more match practise. Only if he is able to control his non-cricket behaviour.
Pakistan have won the toss and unsurprisingly elected to make first use of the bat. That gives them an advantage for sure because the odds are definitely stacked against the team batting second here.
India will now hope that they can stop Pakistan batsmen from running away with the game. Ideally they will want to see Pakistan score not more than 230-240. Can the Indian bowlers do it?

Can India reverse their recent bad form and put it across Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan? That’s the big question on every cricket fan’s lips in India. The Indian batsmen have been surprisingly bad in the past few months showing off weakness after weakness.
Thankfully for India they begin their Asia Cup campaign against Bangladesh - supposedly the weakest link in Asian Cricket. But Bangladesh showed in their two defeats in England that they are no pushovers any longers. Tamim Iqbal amply and clearly demonstrated that he had both the talent and the determination required to succeed at the highest level. If they can continue to play like they did in England I see no reason why Bangladesh cannot win a few more matches than they have been doing in the past.

England is one team which did not struggle in one single match of this World Cup. They did well against the West Indies but then lost to them in a rain affected match. None of the teams in this T20 World Cup have actually tested this England team. Their batting is phenomenal and their new wicketkeeper batsman has definitely been a batting sensation in this world cup. Kevin Pietersen is the main man for England when it comes to batting. He is just too good and we must not forget the abilities of Paul Collingwood, Michael Lumb and Eoin Morgan. Their bowling on the other hand has been quite decent. I would not say outstanding but definitely good enough to win matches.
Australia is one team which is still unbeaten in this T20 World Cup. They have done well against every single team in this tournament. They did struggle against Bangladesh but then came back in the match strongly. You also have to give it to this team for what they did in the Semi-Finals against Pakistan. Their top order is excellent but its the middle order that looks the best to me. People like Cameron White and Michael Hussey can steal away any match from any side and whatever the situation. And then obviously a great bowling attack in the form of Nannes, Tait and Johnson. They have been a revalation this world cup and have disturbed every single team. They did not perform well against Pakistan in the Semi-Final match but I can assure you that it does not happen everyday.
While the bookies are backing Australia for the T20 World Cup Final match, my favourite team is England. I do understand that Australian side looks better but I somehow have a feeling that this England side is just a great unit and very well balanced. They bat, bowl and field well. I think Australia is strong in their bowling department but both the sides look identical when it comes to batting. In a T20 match, whoever does well on that day, will win the match. So it can go either way but my favourites to win the T20 World Cup are England.

Australia won the toss after the match got delayed for a short while due to rain. Duckworth-Lewis must have been on top of mind of the Aussie captain Michael Clarke when he chose to field first after winning the toss.
Australia definitely enter the semi-final as clear favourites but Pakistan is a dangerous entity on any cricket field, and are capable of, and have surprised many many times in the past.
